Crawling Under a Rock Today

Hey Everyone

Crawling under a rock isn't as easy as it sounds. First you must find a good size rock that you can fit under. Then there is the placement of the rock, you must ask yourself "Can anyone see me or find me once I'm under there?" On the other hand I could just hide in my closet. It has a light and all I would have to do is remove my shoes and other junk that is taking up the floor and then I'm golden.

But alas, my family won't allow me the pleasure of disappearing on this day. What's the point of turning 39 + 1 if you can't disappear on the day it happens. Sheesh!!

That's right, I am now 39 + 1 years old. This cute, squashed up nose, little baby is now 39 + 1. Where has the time gone and what have I done with that time. All these questions are running through my head on this day and truthfully I have few answers. However, let's see if I can list some of the accomplishments I have achieved:

I learned to walk (I was 18 months at the time but I learned none the less)
I can ride a 2 wheel bike (but I haven't since I was a teenager)
I can drive a car. I feat I am most proud of. The only thing is my husband won't let me have a car that has any power due to the fact that I have a lead foot.
I passed high school, that's something considering I skipped three months in my senior year.
I got married and raised a husband. A feat that every women should be proud of
I raised two great, beautiful and intelligent children. One who is married and now I'm teaching her how to raise her husband.
My husband says I'm wise and smart (although I wonder if he's just sucking up when he says that)
I'm a good daughter (at least I hope I am)

But the last accomplishment I am most proud of is that I'm a child of God. He created me and wants the best for me. So on this day - the day I'd rather crawl under a rock, I can say Thank you God for 39 + 1 years of life!

BTW: I won't be one of those women who stays 39 forever. Next year I will gladly say that I'm 41 but the number 4 with that dreadful 0 at the end of it is not something that I can handle, so for this year I am 39 + 1.

16 Years Already!

June 8, 2011 will be Ben's 16th Birthday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. From a hyper little boy to a caring, loving, and handsome young man (He really is! Don't let my bias fool you.)

Ben, your Dad and I can't begin to tell you how proud we are of you and the person you are becoming. You already are a man after God's own heart.

Our Baby is Married!

Hey Everyone

Saturday May 7, 2011 we welcomed Josh into our family. The wedding was everything that Brianna wanted.

It was wonderful that all of Geoff's family made the trip from Ontario to be with us.

Geoff and I are now looking forward to a new adventure in being a father and mother -inlaw. Please pray for Josh, he's going to need it!

So now our daughter is Mrs. Brianna Picard. Boy, that's going to take some getting used to.

Florida

Hey Everyone Geoff and I have just returned from 13 days in Florida. We sat by the pool, saw the Gulf of Mexico, went to Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Aminal Kingdom, Universal Studios Florida, and saw Cirque de Soleil. What a trip! It's a New Year

Hey Everyone

Well 2011 is officially here. This year for the deJongs will be an interesting one. Geoff and I will be heading to Florida for two week in March (YEAH!). Brianna and Josh will be married on May 7th. A special birthday will be celebrated in July - correction - Geoff and the kids will celebrate this birthday, I, on the other hand, will be crawling under a rock!!

On top of that 2011 marks the 10th Anniversary of Geoff's decision to enter the ministry. It's hard to believe that 10 years ago we packed up, sold all our home and our furniture, got into a U-Haul truck and moved from Forest, ON to Moncton, NB so Geoff could start his education. At times it feels as though it was yesterday. (Thanks Adrian & Maryiln Kennie!!)

As we begin this year I encourage all of you to hold on to God. Seek Him first in all you do. Remember He will never leave you nor forsake you. He is ALWAYS there!

Christmas is Coming

Hey Everyone!

Well the Village is up and the tree goes up this weekend. The stockings are hung and the stocking stuffers have been bought. Still much to do but I think this year I'll spend more time stopping and thinking of the greatest gift ever given to me at Christmas. Here is a poem I wrote explaining my thoughts.

Twas Christmas Time

Written by Debbie deJong

Twas Christmas in a tiny little house
The small family was scurrying all about
Baking Christmas cookies and decorating the tree
Hanging Christmas lights as far as the eye could see

Mom and Dad and kiddies too
All working together, the time just flew
When the littlest kid no more than four
Pulled out a box and asked "Mom what's this for?"

Mom smiled and said, "That's the nativity set"
Staring at the scene Mom and child's eyes met
"Mom" said the child full of wonder
"Who is the baby?" the little child pondered

"Jesus is the baby's name" Mom smiled with love
"He came down to earth from his father above"
The child smiled with such glee
"Mom, can I put up the Nativity scene?"

Very carefully the child began
To place each piece, first the woman, then the man
Then reaching for the baby and placing him in the manger
The child began to stare at this beautiful stranger

Then Mom and Dad and the kiddies too
Stopped their scurrying because they knew
The true meaning of Christmas isn't in the lights on the tree

It's in the baby born for you and me.

So now as we celebrate this Christmas time
Let us stop and remember that first Christmas night
God came to earth in the form of a baby boy
To bring peace to the earth and fill it with joy

Thank you God for sending your Son
Andwhen Christmas is all said and done

Today Brianna began her 2nd year of University at Crandall and Ben began grade 10.

My how time flies!! The only advice I can give anyone in raising kids is this: Don't blink if you do time will go by faster than you'd like.

HE PASSED

Hey everyone

Geoff was questioned by the Examining Council for Ordination on Tuesday, August 17th and PASSED UNANIMOUSLY!

It was very stressful leading up to the day but God's grace and peace washed over us as we entered the room. About 50 people were there to listen and question Geoff. Some of the questions were very good and challenging. Geoff answered everyone one of them and impressed us all.

So with that it is with great joy that I can say that on October 3rd at 3:00PM St. Martins Baptist Church will have the pleasure of Ordaining Pastor Geoff deJong. You are all invited!

20th Anniversary

Hey Everyone

Today is our 20th Anniversary! Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I was laughing up the aisle! (Ask Geoff about that, I actually laughed as I walked up the aisle!)

We have been through so much in the last 20 years but I must say all of it has been worth it. We have a wonderful daughter who will be getting married next year. A son who brings joy to everyday, and parents who love us and are there for us in more ways than I think we deserve at times.

My dear Geoff, we have struggled together, cried together, laughed together, and played together. I love you more today than ever and I look forward to many more years with you. Happy 20th Anniversary, Love.

It's been busy

Hey all

Here in St. Martins summer is our busy time. Between "Old Home Week" which was last week, two weddings, and all of us working, it's hard to take a breath.

In a few short weeks Geoff will be standing before the Examination Council for Ordination. (August 17th at 10:00AM). It's hard to believe that it's been almost 9 years since we began this roller coaster ride called "Ministry". We've had our up times and our down times but through it all God has remained faithful. Through Brianna's 4 surgeries, my 1 surgery all on our ears. To Ben growing like a weed. God has proven that He will never leave us or forsake us. What a wonderful gift that is.

Today I will for evermore be 39. Isn't that how it goes?

We won't mention that next year I'll be, well you can do the math. I will enjoy this year knowing that God has wonderful things in store for me.

I have a wonderful husband who I love and have been married to for 20 years this coming August. I have two children who make me smile every time they walk in the room. And I have wonderful parents who have taught me to love God and cherish life. What more could I ask for.

So I will enjoy this year and we won't mention my age next year at the time. RIGHT!!

April 4, 2010 is not only Easter Sunday but it is also Geoff's 40th Birthday! To think he made it to 40! Someone once said "To make it to 40 means that for the rest of your life it's all downhill." Well my dear Geoff, enjoy the ride!

I pray that you take some time this Easter to remember the sacrifice that Christ made for you. But not only that, remember that we serve a RISEN Saviour. The tomb is empty my dear friends, and Jesus is waiting on us when we arrive in heaven. I can't wait!

It's Been Busy!

Hey Everyone

Sorry for taking so long to blog but we've been busy. We spend two weeks in Ontario in early March visiting family and friends. Had a good time but came back exhausted. I think we're all still recovering.

Geoff is getting ready to turn the big 4-0 in two weeks. We'll be having a party for him this Saturday, March 27th at our church in the gym from 2-4PM if you're in the St. Martins, NB area please stop in. Poor Geoff, his birthday is actually on Easter Sunday this year so being busy during that weekend is an understatement.

Brianna is knee deep in term papers and getting ready for exams. Stressed is a good word to describe her right now. Prayer would be great.

Ben is doing very well. He is in advanced Math this semester and finds it challenging - which is exactly what he needs. He's still singing in the choir at church and loving it. There has been one change for Ben, he decided to give up playing computer and WII games during Lent. So for the last few weeks it's been rather quite around here. But Easter is coming soon. Maybe it won't be as noisy as before. A mother can dream can't she.

I am doing well now, I had a pretty big scare with my health in early January. Enough of a scare that I'm now exercising regularly and I'm on a diet recommended to me by my Doctor. I see his every 3 weeks so I'm in good hands.

Well the tree is up and so is the Christmas Village. The busyness of the season is now upon us. With Christmas Cantatas, Christmas Parties, School Christmas Concerts, and all the shopping, preparation, travel, and wrapping who has time to stop?

Well, let me take a few moments to stop the world so we can get off . . .

In all the busyness of this time of year it's easy to forget why we are celebrating. God send His only Son on the first Christmas night to save us from the sin God knew we'd make 2000 years later. Now let that sink in for a minute . . .

Praise God for the greatest Gift of all, His Son. No gift could be greater than sharing the news of the glorious birth with someone who needs Jesus. Let that be your gift to God this year. Share Him

18 Years!!!

18 years ago I had the most beautiful baby girl any mom could ask for. 18 years ago!!! My goodness my baby is now an adult in university. You know what, I BLINKED!! Never blink when you have children. One moment your changing their diapers and feeding them and then the next moment they're leaving home to begin their lives. WOW!

Brianna your dad and I are so proud of you. Your love of God and your committment to Him brings so much joy to us. We pray that you will always seek Christ first in everything you do.

Geoff's Induction

Hey Everyone

This Sunday, November 1, 2009 will be Geoff's Induction Service at St. Martins Baptist Church. I can't wait!

We are very happy to be here ministering to the people in St. Martins. On top of that with Geoff not in school there is more time to minister. What a blessing that is.

Here is a quick up-date on all of us:

Brianna is in the middle of mid-terms at ABU. She is doing well but has had some bumps the last few weeks. Even though they have been hard to get through Brianna has handled them with grace and love, putting Christ first. I'm so proud of her and everything that she has accomplished.

Ben is doing well in school and loves our Youth Group here. He is growing and maturing so fast that it's hard to keep up with it all.

Geoff is busy with the church but is very diligent in keeping Fridays off. Some weeks it just doesn't work but he does his best.

I am teaching a women's Sunday School class and I've been asked to speak at a few events and retreats. God is changing me and working in me so much so that there are times Geoff wonders who the woman is he's married too. :)

We are all excited about Christmas coming (me more than the rest). The tree and village go up in two weeks!!!! Yep, you read that right - two weeks people!!!! I've already started singing "Jingle Bells"!

Fall is here!

Hey All

Well it's here, Autumn. I love the beginning of every season and Fall is no exception. The earth just blooms with colour! I can't wait to see all the trees at the height of the season!

Brianna is doing very well in university. She is a bit homesick but living at Grandma's helps with that.

Ben likes High school! Let's just praise God for that one!!!! He is developing friendships and likes his teachers. (He better one of his teachers attends our church!!)

Geoff is very busy with the church. He often says that there are just not enough days of the week to get done everything he needs to get done. He loves not being in school and just pastoring. Visiting has become his favorite part - next to preaching.

I am at home, praying for God's will as to what to do next. I am very content at home. We live in a very beautiful place and our home is just lovely.

Empty Nest Syndrom

Well it has begun. My oldest has moved to University. I haven't been able to go into her room yet. The tears are still coming.

For almost 18 years my husband and I have prayed that we have been a good example so that when this day came we could let our lovely daughter go into the world. With Christ as an example and prayer as a firm foundation we feel as though we are doing the job God has called us to do as parents.

BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE IT EASIER TO LET GO! UGH!

Hey Everyone

This week marks Geoff's first week of work at St. Martins Baptist Church (pictured on the right). What a busy week it has been so far. From getting settled in the office to visiting a many as he can to meeting with committees in the evenings he has been going non stop since Monday.

On top of that we have a house full until next Tuesday. Brianna's boyfriend and Ben's best friend from NS are here visiting with us. It's been crazy but I'm glad the kids have had this time with their friends.

Brianna heads out for university next week. Atlantic Baptist University just changed their name to Crandall University so from this day forward we will be referring to Brianna's new school as Crandall U.

I have yet to get in touch with anyone from Ben's school for a tour and to finish registering him so please pray that that will be taken care of very soon.

All Moved In

Hey Everyone

It's been awhile but when you move and then a few days later go on vacation, it takes awhile to get things like phone and internet hooked up.

Geoff sent an email out to all our contacts and gave them our new address and phone number. If you didn't receive the email please send me a comment on this blog and give me your email address and I'll sent it to you.

Two days after we arrived in St. Martins we left for Washington DC with my parents. Below are some pictures of our trip.

All Graduated

Hey Everyone

Well Friday was an emotional day. Our oldest baby graduated from High School with Honours. I am so proud of Brianna. Now it's off to Atlantic Baptist University to become a teacher. The empty nest syndrome begins in August.

Ben is now 6' tall. Towering over all of us, he is the sweetest kid on the planet. I thank God for him. He too graduated from Grade 8 and will be heading to Simonds High School in Saint John in the fall.

Now all that's left to do is wrap up our ministry at Newport and move to St. Martins NB. Aww yes, packing and moving. Oh what fun. I am starting to pack and sort through everything. Man we have a lot of "stuff". If anyone is interested we are having a garage sale on July 11th. Come out and see us.

The End of an Era

Hey Everyone

Today is the first in a line of big days this week. Brianna has her prom. Today is full of running around and dressing up. Should be fun.

One of the appointments Brianna had today was to see her ear surgeon Dr. Cron. After 7 years of surgeries, appointments, and hearing tests Dr. Cron told Brianna today that she was healed. She no longer has to see him. He is referring her back to the doctor we had in Moncton so he can keep an eye on her but that's about it.

Dr. Cron gave my daughter her hearing back. God used him in a miraculous way to help her. She will miss her appointments with him (manly because she'll have no one to call a "Quack" anymore).

Our little girl is growing up and healing. God is so good!

One Week to Go!

Brianna's graduation is next Friday!!! One week to go people! She has finished her classes and her exams. All that is left is the Prom, Grad Rehearsal, then the Graduation.

After next Friday Brianna's High School career will be over. Just in time for her University career to begin.

Ben is 14!!!

Hey Everyone

Today our little Ben turns 14 years old. OK so he's not so little anymore. You can't really tell by the picture because of Geoff's hat but Ben is taller than Geoff.

What an intelligent, handsome teenager God gave us. He puts up with a lot from his Mom and Dad and we love him for it. Most people don't know this about Ben but he has a wicked sense of humour. When you least expect it Ben just pops out something so funny that you're on the floor laughing so hard you can't catch your breath.

He's a great kid and we love him dearly. Happy Birthday, Ben. We love you SO MUCH!

Poor Geoffy

Hey everyone

Well the last two weeks have been tough for Geoff. Monday May 25 Geoff got his wisdom teeth pulled. He wasn't knocked out!!! Any sane person knows that if you have your wisdom teeth pulled you have them knock you out! Not Geoff - nope, he just had freezing. To top it off one of the teeth was so hard to get out that the dentist ended up drilling a hole in Geoff's jaw just to get in enough freezing. PAINFULL!

After a week, Geoff was still in agony. He went back to the dentist and found had "Dry Socket". That's worse than pulling the teeth out! The dentist put a dressing on it and Geoff is doing a bit better. Still sore at times but nowhere near as bad as it was. If there is a bit of pain still there by next Monday, Geoff will have to go back and be put on antibiotics. What a time Geoff has had.

On top of all that there are moving plans to be made, people to say good-bye to, and boxes to pack. The next 7 weeks are going to be stressful and difficult but with God's help we'll get through them.

If you remember, pray for Geoff and his mouth. Poor Geoffy!!!

We're Moving!

Hey Everyone

It's hard to believe that it was three years ago when we moved to Scotch Village, NS. The work with the church here has been an incredible learning experience for both Geoff and I. We will miss the people of Newport Baptist Church as we leave to begin work in another place.

Our last Sunday at Newport will be July 26th. We will be moving the week of July 27th.

God has called us to pastor in beautiful St. Martins, New Brunswick. St. Martins is about 90 minutes away from my parents in Moncton and about 1/2 hour outside of Saint John.

Brianna will be moving to my parents in Moncton as she will be attending Atlantic Baptist University in the fall. Ben will begin High School at Simonds High in Saint John.

It's a big change for us as it will be very difficult not having our daughter with us but the wonderful news is that there is a lovely girl from the church in St. Martins who is also starting ABU in the fall. That means Brianna will have a ride home every weekend if she likes. I know her dad and I would like that!

Once we have settled in our new home either Geoff or I will blog again with our address and phone number. We will continue to blog and let you know how the moving process is going.

Please keep us in your prayers as we say goodbye to our friends in Scotch Village and then say hello to new friends in St. Martins.

Next Friday begins the Graduation Weekend for Geoff. There is a Commissioning Service and Dinner Friday afternoon and evening. A party given by our church on Saturday. Then Sunday is the actual Graduation at 3:00PM. What a weekend it will be!

We are looking forward to seeing family from Ontario coming to celebrate with us as well as my parents from Moncton, NB & friends here.

It is slowly starting to hit Geoff that he is finished school. Every once and awhile he will look at me and say "I am really done school!" I smile and say "Yes dear".

I will do my best to post some pictures of the weekend for all of you to enjoy.

We've been waiting for SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS!

Hey Everyone

Well today's the day! In January of 2002 we thought this day would never come. We imagined it, we prayed for it, and we hoped for it. But not once did we think it would ever come. But God has been faithful and as of midnight tonight Geoff's classes are complete. No more school!!!!!!!!! Now he can spend all his time pastoring and being a family man.

I'm going to stay up tonight until midnight (Geoff has a paper due by then and I know he'll be working on it right up until the final seconds. Mister Procrastinator!). When midnight hits I'm having a party!!!!!!

After all these years of sweat and tears Geoff will be finished with a BA and a M.Div to show for it. After today the only thing left will be Graduation on May 10. What a weekend that will be.

Geoff's Birthday

Hey Everyone

Isn't this picture the cutest thing! That was Geoff on his 1st birthday. Let me say that many birthdays have taken place since - many, MANY birthdays. I won't say how many but if you take the number 40 and subtract 1 you got it.

Today Geoff will be spending his birthday with his classmates at a retreat for one of his classes. Then when he comes home we'll have his favorite supper all ready for him.

It's been awhile!

Hey Everyone

Yep, it's me - we're all still hanging in there. I'm still getting used to my new hearing aid and so is everyone else around me. Geoff can now whisper in my right ear "I love you" and I can actually hear him. It's so cool! I can't even begin to describe the new noises I hear because I've never heard them before. But let me say this, from the furnace turning on, to the sounds the car makes while I'm driving - everything is different. Even the wind sounds strange to me. Did you know that when rain falls it actually makes noise? I didn't.

Geoff is getting ready for graduation (the count down is at the bottom). Papers, reading, and more papers need to be completed in the next three weeks, then he meets with the Board of Ministerial Standards. They are the people that basically hold Geoff accountable during his school and ordination. After he graduates he'll have another year of being mentored then we can get ready for his Ordination some time next year.

Brianna is also getting ready for graduation. She is all set to move in with Grandma and Grandpa in Moncton to start attending ABU. Geoff and I will miss her terribly but not as much as her brother. Poor kid is going to have to put up with his parents ALONE!

Ben got new shoes last week - you know the saying "Act your age not your shoe size"? Well for Ben that's one in the same - his shoe size is a 13!!!! We haven't measured him yet but I'm guessing if he's not 6 ft he's very close.

I CAN HEAR!!

As long as I have lived I have not heard out of my right ear. Doctor's told me that it was impossible and I would just have to get used to it. Doctors can be wrong you know. After major surgery in September I am now able to wear a hearing aid in my right ear and guess what!! I'm hearing sounds for the first time out of my right ear!!!!!!!! PRAISE GOD!

Due to the fact that I have never heard out of this ear before the specialists have programed my hearing aid to begin softly but everyday it gradually gets louder. In two weeks I'll go back to have it programed to hear more sounds. Then in about three months I should have complete hearing in my right ear. What a world we live in!!!!

For the first time in my life right now I can hear water running out of my right hear. I can hear my husband whisper "I love you" in my right ear. I'm so excited I just had to share this wonderful news.

Poor Ben!

Hey Everyone

Well our wonderful 13 year old son is flat on his back! He was doing laps in gym class on Monday (Jan. 26) and ran so fast and for so long that he tore some tissue in his hip. Geoff was called and to the ER they went. They didn't wait long (which was surprising and God given considering the amount of pain Ben was in). The doctor moved Ben's leg and hip to make sure nothing was broken, thankfully nothing was. However, Ben as told to stay off his leg for a few days. It's been two days and Ben is starting to feel a bit better but it will be some time before he's back to running like he was.

It's been awhile since we've had the count down. Are you ready??? Here we go

By the way, many of you know that Geoff and I are fans of the Gaither Vocal Band - I'm excited about the new group that consists of Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, David Phelps, Mark Lowry, & Michael English. What a bunch of great singers! I can't wait to hear them! I will, of course, really miss Marshall Hall and especially Guy Penrod but if there are two people on this earth that know about change it's Geoff and I and change is apart of growing. So in the meantime enjoy things while you can. God loves to change and grow His people.

Hey All!

2009 starts tomorrow! What a year it will be for our family! Geoff will graduate on Mother's Day weekend, (Yep, it will take the whole weekend!!) Brianna will graduate on June 26th and in September she will start University!!! And to top it off Ben will start high school in the fall!

A year of change is ahead, a year of growing up, and for Geoff and I, experiencing our first taste of empty nest syndrome as we let our oldest go.

Luckily we'll still have a wonderfully talented, funny, young man who as of December 27th is officially taller than his dad! Ben is a light and we are so blessed to have him for at least 4 more years.

Hey Everyone

17 years ago today I had a beautiful baby girl. She had the cutest round little face and the reddest of hair.

She was sweet, cute, and as all babies are LOUD! Her cries would wake up the dead. Still does.

Truthfully, I wouldn't change a thing. I love my little 17 year old. Oops, I guess I can't say "little" anymore.

I am so glad God blessed me with a wonderful daughter who loves God and wants to serve him. That's all we can really ask for.

The Tree is Up!

It's the beginning of November and our Christmas Tree is up. Yea, I know I can hear the groans. Trust me when I say it was not my idea! However, when Brianna came to me and said "Please it's my last Christmas living at home, mom. PLEASE!" How could I say no.

So on Saturday, November 1 Ben and Brianna went into the attic and brought down the Christmas tree and the decorations. And together we put the tree up.

We have a tradition in our family, while we are putting the tree up we watch "A Muppet Christmas Carol." I love that movie. So do the kids. We had a wonderful time, and when Geoff came home from a meeting he looked at all of us, shook his head and said "You're all nuts!" Then he went downstairs.

Next weekend we'll be putting up the Christmas Village. This year it will take up our entire dinning room. Which isn't saying much - the dinning room is really small.

So I guess it's safe to say that in our household Christmas is beginning to arrive. Truth is - I'm not complaining one bit. I love Christmas.

An Update

Hey Everyone

My recovery is coming along nicely. I'm back to work but still very sore and tired. I'm trying my best to rest as much as I can. The doctor feels as though the first step (surgery) was sucessful. The next step is recovery which will take anywhere from six months to a year (yep, it was a doozy of a surgery). Prayerfully during the next few months I'll be able to wear a hearing aid but it all depends on how well I heal.

I have a prayer request. Geoff is tired. We can see that the end of school is in sight, however, with pastoring and being a student at the same time, both being full time positions, he's tired already. After only 3 weeks back at school he's praying for rest. Please pray that God gives Geoff the strength he needs to deal with the challenges of ministry and the studying that is required for this year. Thanks - Oh one more thing - if you feel the need to send Geoff a letter or an email of encouragement please do. With October being Pastor Appreciation Month it will be a wonderful blessing for Geoff. Thanks so much

Surgery and First Day of School

Hey Everyone

At 9:00AM September 3 I was in an operating room. Faces looking down on me as they found a vein to put the IV through. Within seconds I was asleep and a team of ENT surgeons went to work on my right ear. Removing a disease that covered my entire ear canal. They worked hard to rebuild my inner ear in order that I would be able to wear a hearing aid. The doctors said it was the Cadillac of all ear surgeries

For the first time in my life I will be able to hear out of my right ear with the help of a hearing aid. I'm already hearing some sounds that I haven't heard before from that ear and that's with the packing still in. Over the next month or so prayerfully my hearing will increase. What a time we live in.

The first day of school came. For Ben it's grade 8. His last year before High School. He has grown into a handsome young man and a wonderful teenager (OK OK I know I just spouted an oxymoron, wonderful and teenager). Ben is almost the same height as Geoff now and still growing.

For Brianna this should be a memorable year. Grade 12. Final year of high school and looking towards University. My first baby will be leaving in a year. Both Geoff and I are treasuring every moment we have with her. So is her brother. Brianna is leading the ISCF (InterSchool Christian Fellowship) this year at her school and is taking Drivers Ed to get her full license in a year. Don't worry we'll warn you when she does.

After 6 years, three pastorates and loads of studying Geoff has begun his last year of schooling. Mother's Day weekend Geoff will graduate with his Masters of Divinity. FINALLY!

What a year this will be. Lots of changes ahead and growing up to do. Please pray for us as we seek God's will for our family.

Hello all

Geoff and Ben just came back from 10 days in Ontario visiting family. I survived 10 days alone at home (I had to work - boo hoo). People were amazed at how tall Ben is. In fact, Ben's Oma (Grandma in dutch) has been measuring her grandchildren since birth. After measuring Ben last week she calculated that Ben has grown 14 and 1/2 inches in a year and a half. Amazing isn't it. We don't know if he'll grow like that again but if he does - look out!

Brianna has been very busy working the different churches every week. For the most part she has been taking pictures for me - mostly of the scenery but here is one of Brianna and Amelia.

Well Brianna has been away for two whole weeks. She has been having so much fun and has met so many people. She's been homesick but we worked through that together.

Last week she was at Five Points Baptist Church - Geoff was the Youth Pastor there about 6 years ago. The people there were so glad to see Brianna.

Please continue to pray for her and Amelia as they teach these children about God and his love for them.

Brianna's leaving for 10 weeks

Hey everyone

Well the next few days are going to be quite emotional in our household. Brianna leaves tomorrow, June 19, for 10 weeks. She will be teaching DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) in a different church every week. She'll be traveling in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Brianna, along with another girl, Amellia, will be teaching during the week and travelling during the weekend. It will be a very busy summer for Brianna and a challenging one as well.

Please pray that God protects her and gives her the strength she needs. Pray also for the children that Brianna and Amellia will be teaching, pray that God speaks to each of them and that seeds are laid.

Pray also for Geoff, Ben and I as we struggle with missing her.

To those of you who will have the pleasure of working with Brianna and Amellia during the summer, take care of my girl, OK. :)

A House of Teenagers

Yep, today is the day! The day in which our baby boy turns 13!!! We are no longer a family of kids. We have grown up and we are now a family with two teenagers. HELP!

It Happened

Hey Everyone

Since the day Brianna was born both Geoff and I have been dreading this day. The day in which our lives change forever. Our precious baby girl got her Learner's Permit!

She has already driven some and is catching on really fast. We are very proud of Brianna as we cling to our seats and pray like we've never prayed before.

Last night Brianna drove with her dad to pick up Ben from a friend's house. Brianna hadn't done anything in reverse yet - as Ben put it - "It was the longest minute of my life!" She was able to back out of the driveway without a problem but once she was on the road she forgot to put the van in "Drive". Yep, still in reverse Brianna drove for a tiny bit down the road.

It's all OK because she's learning. Just keep us all in your prayers and we'll be fine. I hope!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Think about this . . . .

I want a pony, I want a bicycle, I want my bills paid, I want a maid!
So many people at Christmas use the phrase "I want" instead of "what can I give". What if a little girl helped another little girl ride a pony for the first time. and what if a little boy gave his bicycle to another little boy who didn't have one? What if a man paid for heat to be turned on for his neighbours who can't afford it. And what if a women went to an elderly woman's home and cleaned it?

And what if all these people didn't wait for Christmas to do these things but they did them all year long. Would it change anything? Would it make a difference?

Well, let's see . . . God saw that the world was in need so instead of saying "I want", He gave the most precious thing He could give . . . His ONLY son, Jesus.

Jesus spent 33 years on this earth. He laughed with his friends, he played with children, he healed the sick, he raised the dead, and he told us about his Father. Then God's ONLY son, died - why? to save us. Then three days later he rose so we would be able to serve a LIVING SAVIOUR. God gave us His ONLY son. Did that change the world - You better believe it! If God did all that for us - the "I wants" of this world don't seem that important, but the "What can I gives" can change the world!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hello everyone

I want to take this time to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and to give you all a gift. For over a year many of you have been praying for me as I adjust to life in Nova Scotia. I has been a very difficult transition for me but God has been, and is with me. Yesterday I received some wonderful news - I have a new job! I start on Monday! I don't have many details for you because it is a new position for the company so my job description is up in the air. This is a huge answer to prayer and I thank those of you who have been praying.

Merry Christmas (I think I've written that twice already but it bears repeating.) Have a wonderful time celebrating God's gift to us of His Son, Jesus.

Horseback Riding

Hey Everyone

About 10 days ago this city kid actually got on a horse and rode it for about an hour. My friend Janice wanted to go horseback riding for her birthday and asked me if I'd like to go. When she ask she could see that I wasn't thrilled about the idea and was surprised when I said yes. I was surprised too!

It was fun but as we rode I could feel my legs cramping up and when it came time to get off the horse I couldn't move! I was so cramped up that getting off the horse was a big challenge. Once off I had to walk around for awhile to loosen up, after that I was fine.

Brianna's Robot Baby

Brianna brought home a robot baby as a school project. Speaking from a mom's point of view the baby is really good, but Brianna is tired of the whole thing. Life Changes

Hey everyone

Earlier I wrote to you about my Grandpa. Well, on October 9, one day before his 89th birthday, he passed away. We all felt it was time, however, that doesn't make it any easier.

I was able to go to Ontario for the funeral and see my family. Some of whom I've not seen in over 6 years. Memories of Grandpa filled our conversations as we laughed and cried.

I still don't feel as though I've got my feet back underneath me but one thing is clear, I've changed. It's amazing how one phone call can change your view on life. There were a few times while in Ontario in which I had to "referee" some heated conversations between my aunt and uncle, all the while thinking, "Grow up people Grandpa just died" The petty little arguments that happen, which at one time I would have been in the thick of battle over, now seemed meaningless. I felt as though everyone was missing the big picture.

The truth of the matter was, 1. I was changing, and 2. This was how my family was expressing their grief. I'm finding over the last two weeks that the little things which used to bother me, don't. I don't know if it's that I'm growing or if it's that I just don't care anymore. I know it's my way of grieving, however, the things I care about are defiantly different.

The great news is that Grandpa was a Christian and is in heaven walking with God. I can't help but wonder what his first question to God was? Who met him when he walked through the gates? What does his mansion look like? and, Is it hot enough for him? I ask the last question because every time any of us walked in the front door you could be sure to hear Grandpa yell "Shut the door!".

My Grandparents were wonderful people and I miss them. But, I have the unwavering hope that I will see them again when I get to heaven. No words of comfort can match that, no hugs can compete with it, and no tear can compare to the knowledge that I will see them again and I'll be able to spend all of eternity with them and my Lord and Saviour.

Do you have that hope? If you don't send me a comment, and I'll work with you so that you can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that when you died you will know exactly where you'll be.

We're still alive

Hey Everyone

Geoff wanted me to update the blog as I haven't done so in awhile. We are still here and kicking.

Geoff is in the middle of a very busy semester at ADC. Even though he only goes into school twice a week his course load is quite heavy. Add to that the church and his days are very busy. Please pray that God keeps him healthy and in good spirits

Brianna is doing very well in Grade 11. She is in the school choir and drama club. She is a leader in the youth group at church and a junior church teacher.

Ben is loving Grade 7. He is enjoying Middle School more than any other time in his school career. He is now in Air Cadets (taking after his dad). Once he receives his uniform I'll take a picture and post it for you. My little boy in uniform - ohh I think I'm going to cry.

I'm OK, still looking for work and getting a bit discouraged but God has a plan so I'll trust in that.

School Has Begun!

It's that time of year. Ben is now in grade 7 and Brianna is now in grade 11. It is amazing to see the difference in these two. They have grown into teenagers that I actually like having around. They are kind and friendly and love to make people laugh. God has given Geoff and I wonderful kids and I am very thankful for that.

My Grandpa

Hey Everyone

Last Friday we got a call to come to Ontario immediately because my family didn't think my Grandpa was going to make it. God chose instead to give me a gift, time. I had time with my Grandpa. We shared stories and laughed. I looked through photo albums that I had not looked through since I was a child. This time I was able to share these pictures with my daughter, and tell her all the stories behind the pictures. Grandpa would share his stories with us as well.

As we were leaving, knowing it would be the last time I saw my Grandpa until we met again in heaven, I leaned down and kissed him saying "I love you Grandpa". Now, my Grandpa was raised in a culture in which saying "I love you" as a man was not something you did, so I had never heard him say it to me or anyone else. As I was heading towards the door Grandpa said "I love you too!" I ran back and put my hand on his cheek and said "I always knew you loved me Grandpa." He smiled and I left. My last moments with Grandpa will be my most cherished.

We don't know how much longer Grandpa has but it's OK because I'll see him again. Thank you God!

17 Years!

17 years ago today Geoff and I were married. Many said it wouldn't work and there were times when we thought the same, but it did!

It's hard to believe that all this time has gone by. This year is a milestone for me because as of September I will have known Geoff half my life. How scary is that!!

God has blessed us greatly and I'm so glad he gave me this very handsome man!

It was my birthday

Hey everyone.

It's been awhile since I've updated the blog because we've been on vacation. Or at least Geoff has been on vacation, I had to work.

Yesterday was my birthday, the kids spent it in a car with my parents driving back from Ontario and I spent it at work, and Geoff spent it on with phone with his family because a very good friend of the family's passed away. Yep, on my birthday.

The day was saved by my hero, Geoff. He picked me up from work and we went to Boston Pizza for a wonderful dinner, then on to the movie theater to see "Hairspray". That was a good movie!!!!!!!!! I laughed, I cried, and I sang with the actors. It was great! But that wasn't the end, when we got home Geoff said there was more. There was a Black Forest Cake in the fridge, and two presents hidden in the house some where. We had so much fun. Then I found out that today my best friend, Cheryl, and her family, the kids and my mom and dad are coming for a party for me. What a guy God gave me.

Hey Everyone

In West Hants County where we live their school system is a little different. Elementary School is K-6, Middle School is 7-9, and High School is 10-12. Therefore, tonight our Ben Graduated from grade six and is moving on to another school in the fall.

He graduated with straight "A"s and we are so very proud of him. Congratulations Ben! We Love you!

Update

Hey Everyone

It's been since Christmas that I had the chance to update all of you as to how we are doing. Well, here it goes . . .

Geoff finished his first year at Acadia Divinity College. He enjoyed it a great deal and learned more about Christianity, the church, and more importantly God. He has made some interesting friends and has met many new people.

Brianna had a wonderful time at Drama Fest in Halifax. Her school's drama team received rave reviews from the audience and the judges. On top of that she had the chance to experience university life for a weekend and loved it.

Ben is still playing the trumpet and enjoying school. He and his friends are on the phone with each other more than anyone else in our family. It's fun to watch him grow and become a man. Speaking of growing, Ben is just as tall as Brianna now and is racing to catch up to me.

I am working as you read in the earlier blog. It's tiring but it's good to be out and to the city everyday. Because I was born in Chicago and raised for the most part in Toronto, this city kid needs her city fix as often as possible!

Our church is just finishing the 40 Days of Purpose Campaign is has grown in numbers and spirit. Please continue to pray for us as we lead and pastor.

I've come Through!

Hey Everyone!

I've got a JOB!!! I start on Monday! Thank you to those that have been praying for this.

There was a blog that I wrote months back when I spoke about looking for a job and how hard it was for me. I said "I can't wait to be on the other side looking back and thanking God for bringing me through this . . ." Well, I'm through! And yes, I did learn a lot during this time. I learned that God listens, that God waits for His time, not mine (which can be annoying sometimes), and that God knows what's best ALL THE TIME.

Yes, I am glad that I went through this year of change because without it I wouldn't have grown. Thank you God!

Norman Steeves 1914-2007

Monday April 23, 2007 the world lost a great man of God. Norman Steeves was a member of The Glades Baptist Church where we pastored for 3 years. He had a passion for seeing lost souls come to Christ. That man would pray and knock on the doors of those in the neighbourhood and tell them about God and that they needed to come to church. At prayer meeting when people were praying for the sick, Norman was praying for the lost... it inspired and showed the power of prayer... The Bible says the prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective... Norman's prayers worked. Period.

Our first summer at the church there was a leak in the roof and Norman at 89 was up there with Greg Killam fixing it. Another time he was helping clean up some tree limbs from a tree in the front yard in the parsonage and a car came along and we saw him run to get out of the way... he was a living example of one who was a steward of all he had, including his own body.

One story I like the most is one night during Prayer Meeting Norman asked Geoff what it would take to grow the church. Geoff said "We need to update the church building and reach the community for Christ." Norman, who loved his church, said "Then lets do it!" In a day in age when older people are afraid of change Norman was out there changing the world for Christ. What a man of God.

The world lost a great man but I'll tell you what, he's at the Throne in heaven talking and walking with his Lord and Saviour and undoubtedly hearing these words "Well done good and faithful servant." Praise the Lord.

Thank you Lord, for Norman and the witness he showed to all he met. I pray we all learn from his example and be men and women for You. Amen

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Spring has Sprung!

Hey Everyone!

Spring is here! It's warm and sunny in Nova Scotia and should be that way all week. Praise the Lord!

I went shopping with my best friend yesterday. I'm now wearing clothes I thought I'd never wear in my life and guess what! I like it!!!!! Who would have thought!

Change is a difficult thing but the truth is once you have gone through it you can't imagine your life any other way. Many people in this world have a hard time accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, but once they do they can't imagine their lives any other way.

Change is good! Remember,

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

and

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

God's got you! No matter what the change in your life.

On April 4, 1970 Geoffrey Conrad deJong was born in Guelph, Ontario.
He is the second of four children. The only red-head out of his siblings and in my opinion the cutest.

This little baby has grown up to be a man of God, caring, loving, gracious, a shepherd for those seeking after God, an excellent father, and a faithful husband.

I am so proud of the man you've become, Geoff. God is using you and will continue to use you in a mighty way! I am blessed and honored to be your wife!

Where's the love?

I met a man tonight.

He's a self-professed drug addict and alcoholic. Some time ago he made a deal with God when he was at the lowest point in his life that whatever it was he had left, God could have. He had lost everything due to his addictions. He had lost wives, family, job, everything. But God gave him a new chance. At least so he believed. God showed him the love of a church, God even gave him a new wife. At least so he believed.

He went to college to become a minister, fulfilling a call he had felt since he was twelve.
I met him during his last semester of a bachelor of theology program. He was working and studying and had even found a church to be pastor of. The people loved him. His wife loved him. God loved him.

At least so he believed.

Like many couples, they had problems, but they were working on them. Christmas was approaching and he knew things weren't good, but his wife of 1 year assured him that she wasn't going anywhere.

So the Sunday after Christmas he went to church as usual. Preached on love.

And came home to a dear John letter. She wanted out and said that she had never loved him.

And the church... I'm so angry with that church. They fired him.

He lost his wife, and his calling, and he believes he lost his God. His wife lied about loving him and even claimed that she only married him out of guilt.

The church, those who are supposed to love God and love their neighbor... didn't.

And God, the God of miracles who has healed people in such powerful ways that even this broken man has heard about them. This poor man who has determined that never again will he enter a church... God is nowhere to be found.

At least so he believes. Where is his miracle. This is April 1st... as we call it April fool's day. And this poor broken 49 year old former addict... is sitting in a Tim Horton's, wishing he were dead, convinced he has no value, refusing any help, unable to hear compassion or receive the love of God from anyone in any form.

He thinks he has been a fool to trust God.

My heart was breaking and I wanted to cry with this poor man. Debbie sat at the next table praying while I listened to his story, wishing that there was something I could say, some word that would encourage him. Some thought that would penetrate his despair and offer him a lifeline to cling to. We invited him to stay with us, he refused. I could do nothing but sit and listen as he poured out his broken heart on the table in front of me.

And I realized something. As his pain found a voice, and his comfort with my listening increased, his language got rougher and the tears fell from his eyes faster and faster.

His anger is righteous. I realized that he has every right to be angry. God's plan failed him. But not because God failed. Because God's people did not do what they are called to do. When this man's life fell apart, God's people pushed him apart.

Three years at Divinity College, and apparently no-one cares about this poor man, where he is, what's happening in his life, what he needs.

In and out of churches since he was 17, he now believes that love is just a pretty word, a high ideal, and for him at least, totally unattainable.

I'm angry with the church. I'm angry with myself. And I suppose, if I'm honest, I'm angry at God. Because he allows this to happen. He allows us to suffer. Worse, he allows others to suffer. I want to do something that makes a difference.

When are we going to do something real? When is the church going to stop saying nice words and get dirty helping real people with real problems?

This poor man poured out his heart to me and would accept no help, no offer of mercy, no gift of grace. He talked for a half-hour or so, and then stood suddenly, took his coat and said thanks... and walked out to his car where he lit a cigarette and then drove away.

He insisted he had a bed to sleep in tonight... but I don't know if he did. He wouldn't come home with us though I tried to persuade him.

I'm angry because life is hard and we want it to be easy. I'm angry because life is unfair and we want it to be fair.

But I'm still mostly angry at myself. And the church. Because whatever happens to this poor man, we failed him. I did what I could in the moment God gave me with him, and I know that may make a difference somehow.

But this poor man reminded me of how often I don't even notice hurting people. Worse, he reminded me of how often I ignore hurting people because my agenda is more important.

As God is my witness, I hope and pray that I never forget the conversation I had tonight with this poor man. I hope it changes me forever. I hope me telling this changes you forever. Because if it doesn't, there is very little hope for this world. God in his wisdom has chosen to use his church to share the good news. That poor man desperately needs good news. Now.

I'm going to be watching the obituaries for the next while. I pray I don't see his name. With his past addictions and present problems... this man doesn't appear to have a future.

At least so he believes.

My prayer... and I hope yours is that we will become the kind of people, the kind of Christians... that prove him utterly wrong.God is love. We are supposed to be the living example of that love.

Through

Hey everyone

Bill and Gloria Gaither have written a beautiful song entitled "Through". It's on the Gaither Vocal Band's last CD entitled "Give it Away". If you haven't already bought it you should, it's the best GVB CD I've heard yet.

The song "Through" means a lot to me because it speaks of what God does, He sees us through our pain, our problems, our fears. God doesn't just remove the problems, He leads us through them. How else will we grow if we don't go through each problem. What a wonderful God we have.

Geoff and I have the peace of God and the knowledge that no matter what happens in life God will see us through it. So many people out there don't have that assurance. When illness, death, pain, etc., hits, the fear overpowers them. We need to go out and shout it on the mountain tops that God loves them and will see them through ALL of life's trials.

I encourage you if you are hurting, scared, in pain, God will see you through it, and no matter what the outcome God will be with you until you see Him in heaven.

Water...

Water. Required for life. Water is something I take for granted. I drink it, use it for cooking, cleaning, washing and flushing. Day after day, gallon after gallon, water is part of my life in ways I don't even think about.

So what happens when the well runs dry? We complain about a couple hours without water.

What happens when the pipes freeze? We complain about more time without water.

What happens when the pump leaks? We complain about wasted water.

Funny thing, as much as we need water daily, the Bible refers to water as well. Jesus told a woman at a well the way to have water that wouldn't run out, water that could do more than just quench thirst.

John 4:10 - Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

Living water... water that will permanently quench thirst.

Here's the thing. We are fortunate to have people who care about us that come and refill our well, thaw the pipes and fix the pump. They do so as a demonstration of their love for us and we are very grateful.

Jesus called us to share his water.

Mark 9:41 - I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.

Bring others some water... they are thirsty... Jesus gave us more than enough to share.

Stress

Hey Everyone

I find it ironic that I'm writing to you about stress when my last blog was entitled "Teenagers".

We have very good friends who are in the middle of moving to Nova Scotia from New Brunswick. There are under a great deal of stress right now. It's effecting their behaviors and their health. It's amazing what stress can do to a body!

Less than a year ago, Geoff and I were in the middle of a move. I found it incredibility difficult to concentrate, and forget sleeping, it doesn't happen at all. March makes it 9 months since we've moved. It's hard to believe that it's been that long but it has. Geoff and I are still adjusting to our new surroundings. I know it's hard to those of you who have never moved to understand the stress that comes with moving, however, if you really want to grow and trust God in ways you never thought possible, move, at least once in your life.

Pray for our friends, that God will be with them during this time.

Teenagers!

Hey everyone

When I was 15 I was invited to a friend's 18th birthday party. At 1:00 AM I finally called my mom to come get me. When she drove up to the house all the lights were off (they had lights that came on in time with the music) there was a man standing out front of the house drink a beer and smoking. Mom watched her 15 year old daughter come running out of that house.

When I got into the car all mom said was "Why are there no lights on?" I told her and the rest of the drive home we said nothing. I knew I was going to be in trouble when I got home so I began to say goodbye to the trees, the sky, the people and the houses. I knew that I'd be grounded until I was 60!

We got home and all mom said was "Go to bed". The next morning was Sunday, I came upstairs to have breakfast, knowing I was walking to my doom I walked just a little bit slower. Then my parents did something I will never forget as long as I live. My dad looked at me and said "Debbie, we are so proud of you." WHAT! They're proud of me!! For a moment I wanted to go check the address of the house to make sure I was at the right one! Dad continued "Instead of staying in a place that you were not comfortable in you had the courage to call us and come home." It took me a few minutes to realize that my life wasn't over and that my parents were proud of me.

I learned something that night. Whenever I thought I was in trouble my parents were always there for me. No matter what, I wanted my children to know this. This weekend I found out that they did!

Brianna had a similar experience Saturday night. At 2AM Geoff and I received a call from our 15 year old daughter telling us she was coming home from a sleepover. She was uncomfortable there and didn't feel safe. When she got home Geoff and I hugged her and told exactly what my parents had told me 20 years ago. What a joy to know that our children trust us and feel safe with us.

Happy soon to be Valentine's Day everyone!

Geoff got me the best Valentine's Day gift I've ever received. Two tickets to the Nova Scotia Symphony. I can't wait, we go on March 9. I love the Symphony. To sit and listen to an orchestra play, is one of my favorite things to do. When I was growing up my parents and I would go to Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto and listen to various concerts. I loved it!!

I like to imagine what the sounds will be like in heaven. Will there be music playing all the time? Will there be concerts? Will we hear the angels sing praises to God. Will we be able to sing with them? Will those that can't sing here on earth be able to sing in heaven? Will those who can't play an instrument be able to play in heaven? And will those who can sing and play an instrument be able to play better? I can't wait to find out. For now I'll enjoy my concert and thank God for a wonderful husband.

Congratulations Colts!

Hey everyone

The Colts won the Superbowl! Payton Manning finally has a SuperBowl win. And I'm glad. However, the Bears didn't win. They had a great 1st half but after half time it was pretty sad. The good news is that the Bears team is young and prayerfully there will be another chance next year.

Now, for those of you who do not like football, like my husband, I will not talk about it anymore until August when the new season starts up again. Promise! (Just so you know my fingers are crossed behind my back) :)

FOOTBALL

Hey everyone

Anyone that knows Geoff and I know one thing. I love Football and Geoff doesn't. It's funny, every time August rolls around Geoff and the kids roll their eyes and say to anyone that will listen "We now interrupt this family for the football season." I LOVE FOOTBALL.

Why, you ask. Well, let me take you back to my childhood. As most of you know my dad is a pastor and Sunday's are his busiest days. Yet, he would still take some time out to watch a game with me. He would get excited and I would get excited. I always liked the Chicago Bears because I was born in Chicago so in 1986 when the Bears won the Superbowl I was on cloud nine.

I've always liked the New England Patriots as well. It's hard when Chicago and New England play one another because I'm torn between the too. Luckily they don't play one another often.

This year the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts are playing in the 41st Superbowl. I am rooting for the Bears, however, it would be nice to see Payton Manning win a Superbowl. I can't wait for the game!

Warning: If you hear a scream of joy, or a scream of disappointment in the distance, it's me watching the Superbowl.

Enjoy the game on Sunday those of you who are Football fans! (If you're not a Football fan, why not!?!)

It's Amazing!

Hello Everyone

I had my doctor's appointment this morning to receive the results of my second round of blood tests. The first thing the doctor said to me when he walked into the room was "Debbie, have you got people praying for you?" I said "Yes, all over North America. Why?" Then my doctor said something to me that I thought I'd never hear in my entire life. He said "Debbie, YOU'VE BEEN HEALED!!!" My blood tests have all come back normal! He said that there is no explanation for this other than God Himself healing me.

GOD HEARD YOU!!! He listened and healed me! No cancer, no Hyperthyroidism, no tumors in my throat. It's ALL GONE! The doctor said that there was no medical reason as to why this happened. IT'S ALL GOD!

Praise the Lord! All the glory goes to Him!

Thank you for praying and supporting my whole family through this. To those that called my mom and dad, or told them that they were praying from me. To those who hugged Geoff and prayed with him. To those that put up with me when the symptoms showed up. THANK YOU!

God is good.

A mouse!!

Hey everyone

There is a mouse in our house!!! YUCK!! Ben spotted this little creature running around in the basement while he was working on his computer. I've never seen Ben run so fast in his lifetime. Truth be told, I was running right behind him!

Isn't it funny how a small creature like a mouse can scare the pants off us adults. OK, I know some of you aren't afraid of mice but I'm not one of them. I don't like the thought of a little creature running around in my house. It just freaks me out!!

Question . . . why did God create mice? or mosquitoes, for that matter? These are creatures that I would gladly do without.

I guess it's just proof that God has a wonderful sense of humour.

Debbie's Health Update

Hello everyone

Just give me a moment to pick up my jaw! All I can say is, thank you for the prayers of healing, IT WORKED!

On January 11 I had an ultrasound, today I received the results . . . 8 years ago I was diagnosed with having goiters around my thyroid . . . THEY ARE GONE! The Radiologist said that I appear to have a healthy Thyroid. Now the question is have I been healed of the Hyperthyroidism. To answer that question I will be having more blood tests tomorrow and I'll have the results next Monday. I still have some of the symptoms of Hyperthyroidism so we'll wait and see what the tests results are. The very good news is that there is NO threat of cancer!

Please continue to pray for healing, God is listening!!!!!! PRAISE GOD!! All the glory goes to Him!

Our Trip

Hey Everyone

We just got back from Ontario. Geoff's mom was Ordained by Acton Baptist Church in Acton, Ontario last Sunday. So, we drove from Scotch Village, NS to Toronto Ontario and back so we could attend.

The top picture is of Geoff's family, his mom and step-dad with his two brothers and there wives and his sister, as well as the four of us. The next picture is of Geoff and his brothers and sister. From left to right: Geoff, Dolf, Tanya, & John.

We had a great time with Geoff's dad and step-mom as well. I love going to their house because it reminds me of the house I grew up in, in Toronto. Their house feels like home to me.

Geoff hadn't been home for a year and a half, so to be with his family after all that time was nice. He is now rejuvenated and ready to continue with his studies at Acadia. Did I mention that after taking 5 Master level courses at ADC last fall, Geoff received all As. Not bad for a guy who is attending school full time and pastoring full time. (I can brag! I'm his wife!)
