I don't like good-byes. Who does. Last night we had our farewell to The Glades Baptist Pastorate. Geoff has been the pastor of The Glades Baptist Church and Forest Glen Baptist Church for three years and it was time to say "good-bye".
There was laughter, tears, great music, and lots of hugs. It was hard to stand out on the steps of the church and say good-bye to people as they went to their cars. Some tried to speak but their tears got in the way. Somehow, both Geoff and I knew what they were trying to say.
My grandma (my mom's mom) hardly ever said the word "good-bye". It was quite odd when you were on the phone with her because there would be no ending. When the conversation came to a close you would hear her say "well" and then she would hang up.
Now that Grandma is in heaven I understand why she hardly said "good-bye". It's because when you are in the family of God (a Christian) there is no such thing as good-bye. We'll see each other again in heaven.
My goodness, what a party that will be!
See ya!
Deb
