Life and Death

We have an amazing God,

I find myself thinking alot about how great God is the last few weeks, but especially this past week as I had a funeral last week and now two this week.

We can know that we are saved and we can walk with no fear of death because of Christ crucified, buried and risen. I have placed my trust in Christ, and he will not abandon me. Watching families grieve, grieving with them, helping them to understand that it is not only okay, but important to ask the tough questions when we lose a loved one... that is a privilege I thank God for every time.

God can even use our loss to bring about good, think about this...

Every time a person dies, Every single time... those who knew that person are left with no choice but to come face to face with the question of what happens now.

And it is during that time, that time of heartache and loss, that we truly understand the hope that we have in Christ, and we get the opportunity to help others receive that hope as well. If the person who has passed away knew Christ, we celebrate their homecoming even though we miss them and mourn their loss. If the person perhaps didn't know Christ, we offer the family the comfort of God's love, and the reminder that they need for themselves the hope which only God can provide.

My friends, whatever comes, the Bible tells me we don't know the day or the hour when any of us may die, our lives are but a moment. So in case there are some of you reading this who haven't trusted Christ, I encourage you to put your hope and trust in him.

In that way, no matter whether we meet again this side of heaven, we can spend eternity together with Christ. And that is why we do not mourn as those who have no hope.

Hi Geoff, We thought we would see you again last week at both funerals, but my sister had taken quite ill and we had doctor and hospital appts. She is still not well at all but it is a miracle that she is alive. Praise God!
